We have often heard about abuse on animals in Circuses, expecially after the recent episodes related to Annie the elephant.
Italy unfortunately holds a sad record: it's the country with the highest number of Circuses, over one hundred.
Since the business has gone through a crisis lately, they even receive grants but often nobody is worried about checking in real terms what are the effective conditions of the animals.
A study at the Bristol University has recently highlighted the stress level to which elephants, wild beasts and sometimes even protected and exotic species are subjected to. They are often objects of violence, forced to exhausting transfers and to live in straitness.
About 15 countries are now taking action to abolish the use of wild animals, expecially after some well noted videos have gone around the internet world showing the effective mistreatments. But these are only the first little steps to solve this problem.
It is necessary to educate people, to explain children that animals are not teddy bears, we need to become aware of the fact that circuses impose them innatural behaviours and that every creature has the right to live free in its environment and its spaces.
Anyways, circuses can be an incredible experience also without tamers: the extraordinary success of the Cirque Du Soleil it's the best example.
Help us to save our animal friends and to set them free. Click here to sign the petition and say NO to Animals in Circus!
