PROGETTO CHARITY:WATER

CHARITY:WATER PROJECT
As many of you already know, our group wanted to dedicate the first part of this year to the water issue, with articles and various projects.
After the end of the first fundraising on Crowdrise, whose proceeds went entirely to ISF so that they will handle it at their best, we decided to arrange the second so that the donationswill already have a precise aim.
Therefore, on the wake of the success obtained last year with the collaboration with http://www.edenprojects.org , thanks to which over 3000 trees were planted in Madagascar (a whole forest dedicated to ISF!!!) and many local inhabitants got a job, also this time we have chosen an organization to be given the proceeds we will manage to gather, hoping that they will be remarkable once again!

This new organization we have involved is called CharityWater (http://www.charitywater.org/) and they are based in New York. Their mission is supplying people and villages in difficulty with clean and affordable water. For many of us, this is a need which can be easily fulfilled: just turn a tap on et voilà… here we go with a roar of abundant and limpid water!
But we must remember that there are billions of people for whom, unfortunately, it is not so easy. Indeed, in many parts of the world, villagers have to walk several kilometers in order to reach pools whose water is often rotten, or they have to lining up for hours for their turn at the nearest well.
For this reason, CharityWater works to build wells and water purification systems in their villages. With a donation of $20 or €10 only, we can really make the difference!

CharityWater was founded by Scott Harrison, a New Yorker who was once a showbiz event planner. Since he was not satisfied with his life, he left as a volunteer –precisely as a photographer - aboard on a floating hospital belonging to a humanitarian group called Mercy Ships and working along the coasts of Western Africa.
This way, he came into contact with the hard reality of those Country, which were so different from he used to live!
Extremely poor States where misery reigns and which lack of electricity and easy access to water.
In particular, he fell in love with Liberia, where he worked as a photojournalist in a leper colony.
It was there where he experienced a fragment of extreme poverty which almost two billion people all over the world have to deal with, understanding at first hand what the lack of clean water may lead to: deformities caused by bacteria, tumors, untreated cataracts, the impossibility to cultivate crops which are essential to nutrition etc.
And in spite of all this, those populations kept on showing impressive courage and liveliness. So, to him, the chance to live among them proved to be a honor!

CharityWater is the resullt of this experience.
With a large group of collaborators and volunteers, this organization is managing over 6 thousand projects in several villages, schools
and clinics of Africa, South America and Asia, helping almost 3 million people.
Their initiatives are manifold and variegated. Indeed, they range over from the wellto purification system and health facility sponsorships, to individual and group fundraising, to the sale of merchandising on a proper section of their website.
They are a serious and reliable worldwide leader in this field, and since we know that water is one of the issues which are taken to hear by Ian, ISF – our endless source of inspiration – and all the TVD cast, this is a new and unmissable chance to show that we are always in the forefront!!!
Do you want to take part as well??? So, send your donation at http://mycharitywater.org/isf_itsproisfwaterrace
The 100% of the funds will be totally used for the projects that CharityWater will consider most urgent at the end of this activity. And don’t worry! All the donors will be kept informed about the progress of the works!
