Sicuramente qualcuno in Italia apprezzerà quest’idea…

Sicuramente qualcuno in Italia apprezzerà quest’idea…
questi eventi – poi finalmente tocca a noi, i Platinum, e infine i Silver.
piace cucinare, e ogni tanto fa qualche battuta.
superbacio volante… proprio a NOI, solo a NOI!

Day Two: all’Eyecon.
Sta tornando in sala foto. Poi ci
Poi ci piazziamo all’uscita della sala
delle foto e a fine sessione vediamo comparire Steven, Joseph, Daniel, Kat, Bryton
“Luka” James e Kayla “Vicky” Ewell. Stavolta riusciamo a rubare qualche foto!
dopo, allo stesso ascensore, incontriamo Rob Pralgo, senza assistenti e fans
intorno.. come se niente fosse..! Riassumendo,
è stato un investimento molto proficuo! Se vi capita l'occasione, la
partecipazione all'Eyecon in ATL è assolutamente consigliata e
raccomandatissima!
in 4D e la possibilità di degustare quasi 60 bevande diverse da loro prodotte;

So…. We promised you the long-awaited ship’s log about
our stay in Atlanta., and here we go! Are you ready? Let’s start!
After a very long and very cold trip, due to an air-conditioned, or better, an air-unconditioned plane – but obviously it was worth it – and after puzzling the airport attendants by telling them that we were there basically for a Halloween party, we arrived on perfect time in a new ‘Wind City’, as we renamed it at once… really, is it Atlanta or Trieste? [a town located in Northeastern Italy, where a terrible wind blows]
That evening, it rained, but from the day after and on, the weather was always sunny, even though the wind forced us to wear down jackets and scarves while the local citizens kept on being at their ease wearing t-shirts or even being bare chest, not to mention a new trend: bermudas, socks and pool slippers! Surely, somebody in Italy would appreciate this idea as well...

Surely, somebody in Italy would appreciate this idea as well...
The day after, we dedicated morning and afternoon to
shopping for the items we still missed for the fateful Empoweresque, which
would be waiting for us just few hours later! Anna chose a very nice, pink and
black, sexy witchy costume, while Paola found a beautiful hairband with a big black ribbon,
which she would wear instead of the hat. None of us, except Laura, felt at her
ease in Dita Von Teese’s burlesque style, so we opted for witch costumes, which
were a bit sexy anyway. The party started: after standing in a queue outside
and freezing our butts off outside the Opera, waiting for the children to end
their turn, little by little we are allowed to enter. Queuing
up, Anna could not help noticing Jamie, an
English boy that is Ian lookalike, but unknown to her until that moment…
First, they called the VIP Ticket owners, including
Jamie. He is often invited to attend events like this. Finally, our turn
– the Platinum Tickets – came as well, and then also the Silver Tickets
entered. Later, everybody would be allowed to come in. Once inside the Opera –the Q&A was reserved for VIP and Platinum Tickets - we
managed nonchalantly to take a seat in the
second row. Our Ian did not keep us waiting for him for a long time and,
instead of entering dramatically in front of us, he came quietly through the
corridor among the seats and turned here and there to greet everybody. He
disguised as Captain Planet and, unfortunately, he limped because of a knee
surgery he had had due to an injury. Then, he sat on a couch on the stage in
front of us (really few meters away!) and began to answer the questions asked by the host and which were made in advance by some of the participants. He talked about various issues…
from the environmental problems to what he likes to cook, and he often made us
laugh with his jokes. Then, he showed us
a video where it was explained what being sexy means to him: one is sexy not
out of the look, but out of the deeds. “To respect the environment is sexy, to
be kind towards the animals is sexy, to help the others is sexy, to love
children is sexy etc.”. Then, he walked up to the terrace above the stage. It
was time for a show displaying contorsionists climbing up some sheets, and
street dance groups performing. Afterwards, he came down again for some minutes to
thank everybody, then he walked up on the terrace, and sometimes he leant out
to greet, but, at least for the moment, he couldn’t be approached. He barely attended the party organized for the VIP
Ticket owners, who really paid a lot of money, even though Jamie, Joseph Morgan , Kat Graham, Zach Roerig, Candice Accola and other members of the TVD cast took part in it. Anyway,
it was dancing time! Unluckily, no photo op took place.. so we cheered
ourselves up by dancing and drinking vodka… except Paola, who does not hold it! Anna kept wandering around and managed to take a picture with Jamie at the
VIP party entrance. At one point, outside the restrooms we bumped into Joseph
Morgan (he’s very nice and cool as well,
so will we be able to be afraid of Klaus
any longer? Mmmh, we doubt it…) disguised as Beetle Juice, chatting and
taking some pictures with the fans. Anna calls him
and takes not one, but two pictures with him, since the first one was not good,
while, unluckily, Paola did not manage
to, since another girl kept on talking to him and then he had to join his area
in a hurry. So we danced still a little
bit, and then we approached the stage again. This time, after "bravely" reaching the stage, we looked up and saw Ian and we called him. He leant out,
greeted us and sent a megakiss… JUST FOR US! There was even a girl who
approached us and asked if we knew him personally…. of course not, but
we’d really love to! Anyway, we were super happy for this.
But some criticism is necessary: even though it was a charity event, its organization was not completely effective, and if this has been noticed by us, who came from Italy on purpose, go figure the VIPs! They were rather furious about some aspects of the party, which, to be honest, disappointed us a bit as well. Maybe the expectations were too high, but, after all, what the event offered did not match with what the ticket promised (pictures, gadgets etc.). Unlike what happened with the other guests, who were all available and, as we said before, we even met some of them by chance, neither the VIPs nor anybody else could really approach Ian and talk to him!

Day Two: at EyeCon. The survivors of the party of the
night before – Paola, Anna and Eliana…
Laura was struck down by her drinks and she
would reach us later – went to the Sheraton Hotel for the third day of the TVD
convention in order to attend the Q&A with
Kat “Bonnie” Graham & Steven R. “Jeremy” McQueen first, and then
with Joseph “Klaus” Morgan & Daniel “Elijah” Gillies. Anna loves Steven.. he is very nice and his voice
is so sexy! Also on this occasion, the fans asked many questions, the
actors answered and they often cracked jokes, making us laugh to death! We met Jamie again, who of
course is not the real Ian, but he is very popular and many girls asked for
pictures with him, and even for
autographs. Indeed,
we met him so many times that we often wondered jokingly who the real stalker
was… he or we? Afterwards, while we were waiting for the end of the
photo session, we wandered around a long corridor hoping
to meet someone of the actors and, outside the restrooms… we met Joseph again,
who gave us a gleaming 32-canine simile! He was going back to photo-op
room. Then, we turned back and discovered that, at a short distance behind us,
there were Nina “Elena” Dobrev and Candice “Caroline” Accola… well, actually
only Anna noticed them, since Paola and Eliana were still dazed because of
Joseph’s big smile, so they were still looking
towards him. Afterwards, we went back to the entrance of the photo room
and, and the end of the session, we saw Steven,
Joseph, Daniel, Kat, Bryton “Luka” James
e Kayla “Vicky” Ewell coming
out. This time, finally, we managed to take some pictures of them! Afterwards,
in the vendors room, we met also Robert “Mayor Lockwood”
Pralgo, who was very pleased to take a picture with us. They all were really
nice and kind! Then, we met Jamie again… at this point, we asked him for a
picture as well. Why not? And then, we
met…. Joseph, again! This time he wasn’t coming out of the restrooms, but he
was going there… So, girls, if you want to meet him, now you know where you
have to wait for! His assistant did not leave
him even for a moment and it was difficult to take pics, and then he
disappeared into the elevator… Ironically, some minutes later, at the
same elevator we met again Rob Pralgo, who wandered in tranquility without any
assistant or fans! To sum up, this was a very profitable event! Should you
have the chance to attend the TVD EyeCon in Atlanta, we highly recommend it!
The following days, before moving to Covington for the
Mystic Falls Tour, we enjoyed Atlanta, which is really worth visiting. Indeed,
it hosts the original Coca Cola Headquarters, in which you can see, among the
other things, a fantastic 4D video, and you have the chance to sample almost
60 kinds of beverages; US
biggest aquarium, Martin Luther King’s and Margaret Mitchell’s – the popular author
of Gone with the Wind – houses, the CNN Headquarters, where you will discover
also the secret of Harry Potter’s Cloak of Invisibility; the Historic Museum,
which is located in a huge park where there are also a villa built in the 1920's
and a 19th century farm. This museum displays numerous
artifacts of the past and present of Atlanta and the whole Georgia - i.e. The American Civil War and the 1996
Olympic Games. We also visited the Atlanta Museum of
Contemporary Art, which at the
moment displays a collections of paintings by Picasso, Pollock, Mirò, Warhol
etc. and other stuff, for instance an eccentric gothic piano in Addams Family style.
At Halloween, we prepared ourselves for an evening which we hoped it would be a bit lively, but we met very few people in the streets, the wind blew strong and so we holed up at Hooters (a restaurant chain we highly recommend!) to dine. There, Anna and Eliana ordered a double serving of crab legs and, because of that, they obtained the nickname of Crab Rippah… now, the ATL Aquarium is empty! Then we popped in the Hard Rock Café but it clodes at midnight and we were rather tired anyway, so we got back to our hotel to sleep.

On Wednesday, Nov the 1st, after a very tiring day
of shopping at Five Points and Underground Atlanta, the city’s ‘blackest’ block
– we advise you to visit it
- we rented a car (since we
had a lot of luggage, we managed to move the car rental lady who gave us a
free upgrade and so… we got a SUV!!! ) and, after going the wrong way
for a couple of times, finally we reached our wonderful hotel in Covington. Honestly, we doubt any of the
actors actually stay there, at least according to the Vampire Stalkers… anyway,
it is a very comfortable lodging and it is situated in a privileged position. The day after, we reached the Tourist Center at noon in
a hurry, but our guide Jessica, her driver and other two girls had waited for
us luckily without worrying about our delay! We followed them with our car
towards the town’s main square, which hosts the Mystic Grill which, as you
surely know, actually is not a restaurant. Finally, the four crazy girls
managed to take the craved pictures of themselves in front of this awesome
place! On the right of the Mystic Grill, there is a staircase where they shot
the scene in which Lexie comes out of the restaurant, she is arrested by the police and then killed by Damon. On the
other side of the road, there is the building which hosts sheriff Liz Forbes’s- Caroline’s mother – office.
Afterwards, we walked for a bit through the central park, in which there are some benches where some
other scenes were shot. In the main square, there are other buildings. On the
roof of one of them, Damon took Vicky after
kidnapping her at the beginning of the 1st season. The shop window of another building was instead created on
purpose to display the office of the Gilbert’s family. Afterwards, after taking some pics including the
exact place where Klaus, in the 4th episode of the 3rd series, opens the hatch of the track which took Stefan
back to Mystic Falls, we took our cars again to visit the various houses.
The first one we stopped at is the villa that was used to shoot the scenes
dating back to the 19th century, and that will become a B&B very soon. Then, we
saw Vicky&Matt’s house, Bonnie’s grams' house and Isobel’s villa. Then,
we visited the cemetery, which hosts Damon’s path and where they shot
Jenna&John’s burial, and where Isobel burnt herself. After that, we moved
towards Lockwood’s villa, the only one which is allowed to be visited by the
real owner, whom we met. In a room, we saw some pictures of the sequences about the
Masquerade, and a big mask signed by the cast. Then,
we visited the park behind, where the 9th episode of series 3 had just been filmed, where there is a pond with swans. I would say they
are rather naughty… they are always attacking Steven, so one of them has been
given his name. Along the pond, we saw a bench
where Elena, Bonnie and Caroline sat in a shot, the small bridge where
Stefan broke up temporarily with Elena and another bench, made of stone, where
Katherine tried to stab Stefan. In front of the house, there is a bench where Tyler’s mother insulted
Vicky by telling her that scums were not welcome at her house.
Afterwards, we went to the place where the witches were buried, and, believe me, I think it is really spine-chilling! It is a private property which the TVD production made old-looking on purpose and, though it is located in town at the end of a drive, it is really striking! The wind whistles through the trees, and besides, you hear the noise of acorns falling down continuously…. they may hit our head! Jessica told us that it was not possible to approach it, so we had to take pics from afar. Finally, we moved to Caroline’s and Elena’s houses. The Mystic Falls Tour is highly recommended as well. We could merge into the TVD atmosphere by ‘feeling’ the real places we just imagined before, even though one must be very lucky to meet the actors while filming… this was an honor we did not have, at least on this occasion, despite staying in Covington for some days.
At the end of the tour, after thanking Jessica, we stopped at Scoops, a cake shop which is located in Covington’s main square and where they sold wonderful treats! We were told that the chocolate covered apples are Michael “Tyler” Trevino’s favorite, while Ian prefers the banana shake. Anna and Eliana chose the traditional caramel apples, while Laura opted for the chocolate covered marshmallows and Paola for a rice crispy treat…. a nice memory of her infancy, though at that time she managed to eat a lot more of it. And we suggest you to try the strawberry lemonade and the mountain dew as well… not available in Italy!

Afterwards, we dedicated the last two days… to
shopping, of course… and to visit the Museum of Contemporary Art in Atlanta, since it was included in our
ATL CityPass. Finally, unfortunately, it was time to go back home, with a
suitcase full of presents and sweets,
but, above all, of fantastic memories.
Obviously, we left a piece of our
heart there in the USA,
and we really hope for a “see you again soon”!
